Dr. Tsai received his M.D. degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed his residency training at the Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California. He has undertaken two clinical fellowships in glaucoma: the first at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and the second at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. Dr. Tsai also has received a M.B.A. degree from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Tsai is the recipient of numerous awards, including an Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Orbis Medical Faculty Award, Who’s Who in America (Marquis), Who’s Who in the World (Marquis), Best Doctors in America, and America’s Top Ophthalmologists. Dr. Tsai serves as a panel consultant for the Ophthalmic Devices Panel of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, an associate examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a Glaucoma Subcommittee member of the National Eye Health Education Program Planning Committee of the National Institute of Health. He is on the Board of Directors of the Glaucoma Foundation, the New York State Ophthalmological Society, and the Chinese-American Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Tsai has authored numerous scientific articles, abstracts, and book chapters, as well as two editions of the textbook “Medical Management of Glaucoma”. He has received research funding from private foundations and donors, the National Institute of Health, and commercial industry.
